READ BEFORE ORDERING — WHERE THIS GASKET GOES

This transmission does NOT have a bottom drop pan like a GM or Ford automatic. The oil pan on the AW50-42LE/40LE is the flat cover on the SIDE of the case, over the valve body and shift solenoids. This gasket seals that cover to the case. If you removed the cover for solenoid or valve body work, or you're chasing a leak from the side of the transmission, this is the correct gasket.

• Fluid spots on driveway, low fluid level between services
• Slipping or delayed engagement into Drive or Reverse caused by low fluid

FITMENT — VEHICLES USING THE AW50-42LE / AW50-40LE

IMPORTANT: Verify your vehicle uses the AW50-42LE or AW50-40LE automatic before purchase. Manual transmission vehicles and models equipped with other automatic units (including the 5-speed AW55-50SN used in later Volvo models) do NOT use this gasket. Does not fit Volvo S60, V70 2001+, or XC90.

INSTALLATION NOTES

• Clean both mating surfaces completely; install the gasket dry
• Do not coat this hard-style gasket with RTV — sealant buildup causes repeat leaks
• Torque cover bolts evenly to spec; do not overtighten
• Always replace the gasket any time the cover is removed — reusing a compressed gasket is the most common cause of comeback leaks
