Description

TH350 Input Shaft — Bushing Type (1969–1979)

This direct-replacement input shaft is machined for bushing-type TH350 automatic transmissions built between 1969 and 1979. Manufactured by Stellar Automotive Group (SKU: 35733S AFT), it restores smooth torque transfer between the torque converter and transmission pump without the play, wear, or noise of a spent OE shaft.

  • Front End Type: Bushing-type (smooth front journal — no needle-bearing groove)
  • Torque Converter Splines: 13-spline
  • Overall Length: Verify against OE spec before installation
  • Front Journal (Pump End) OD: Verify against OE spec before installation
  • Material: Carburized alloy steel with ground and polished journals
  • Finish: Polished journals; natural steel body
  • OEM / GM Part Reference: 14033579
  • Interchange Part Number: 44670A
  • UPC: 840491301879

What's Included

  • 1 × Input shaft (shaft only — torque converter, bushing, and seals sold separately)

How to Identify the Bushing Type

The bushing-type input shaft has a smooth, polished front journal at the pump end. If your original shaft has a machined groove or retaining ring groove at that journal to accommodate a needle bearing, you have a needle-bearing-type shaft — and this part is not compatible. Inspect your existing shaft or consult your transmission build sheet before ordering.

Application Limits

  • Compatible with GM TH350 transmissions only — not compatible with TH350C (lock-up), TH400, or other GM units
  • For bushing-type pump housings only — needle-bearing pump housings require a different input shaft
  • Verify year and pump style against your specific vehicle build before installation

Installation Notes

  • Inspect and replace the front pump bushing before installation if worn
  • Lubricate the front journal with fresh transmission fluid before assembly
  • Ensure the oil feed hole in the shaft aligns with the pump during installation
  • Torque converter must be fully seated onto the shaft before bolting the transmission to the engine
  • Professional installation is recommended; improper installation can damage the front pump and/or torque converter
