Fitment And Identification

These star washers are intended for 2003-up 5R55S and 5R55W transmission assemblies with the later 38-tooth overdrive sun gear. Match the transmission model, original washer, overdrive drum, and sun gear configuration before ordering.

Do not confuse this part with the earlier 24-inner-tooth overdrive sun gear star washer used in certain 1999-2002 5R55N applications. Internal transmission parts can look similar while using different tooth counts and assembly configurations.

Service Information

Use these washers during overdrive section repair, transmission rebuilding, or replacement of an original washer found worn, damaged, distorted, or missing during teardown. Proper assembly order, endplay inspection, and verification of related overdrive components are important during installation.

This listing includes two washers only. No sun gear, overdrive drum, planetary gearset, bearing, gasket, seals, fluid, or additional transmission components are included unless specifically shown.

Use the transmission manufacturer’s specified ATF after service. Lubegard ATF Protectant may be considered when compatible with the application and used according to its product directions.
