Manual Lever Position Sensor for GM 4L60E (95-03) 4L80E (95-00)

This manual lever position sensor (mlps), also commonly referred to as a prndl switch, neutral safety switch, or transmission range sensor, is a direct-fit replacement for gm 4l60e (1995–2003) and 4l80e (1995–2000) automatic transmissions. The mlps is mounted on the outside of the transmission and monitors the position of the shift shaft. It communicates gear selection to the vehicle's engine control module, which uses that data to permit starting only in park and neutral, activate the reverse backup lights, and display the correct gear position on the dash indicator. A failing mlps commonly causes a no-crank, no-start condition — even when the battery and starter test good. Other symptoms include a delayed or incorrect prndl dash display, reverse lights that do not illuminate, or a shift interlock solenoid that will not release the shifter from park. This switch is compatible with a wide range of chevrolet, gmc, cadillac, oldsmobile, pontiac, buick, hummer, and isuzu vehicles equipped with a 4l60e or 4l80e transmission from 1995 to 2003.
