What it does:
The 4R100 non-PTO uses the same sensor (F81Z-7M101-AA, 781-1979 ohms) at both the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) position on the extension housing and the Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) position on the case. This magnetic pickup sends a frequency signal to the PCM that controls shift timing, torque converter lockup, cruise control operation, and speedometer readout.

Problems this sensor resolves:

• Erratic, jumpy, or dead speedometer

• Harsh, delayed, or missed 3-4 upshift

• Torque converter clutch not locking or shuddering

• Transmission dropping into failsafe / limp mode

• Cruise control drop-out

• DTCs P0500, P0715, P0720, and P0721

Note on compatibility: This is the non-PTO sensor (781-1979 ohms). If your truck is a PTO-equipped model, the TSS position requires F81Z-7M101-BA (496-1244 ohms) instead — the OSS position still uses F81Z-7M101-AA on all models.
